TV App, webOS Development

An IPTV client for LG webOS televisions. Live channels, movies and series from a Stalker portal, built for a remote control rather than a cursor: every screen is driven by the D-pad, with zone-based focus that moves predictably between sidebar, list and player.

The EZ Play TV live channel browser running on a television, with a channel previewing alongside the list

Project context.

The brief

IPTV players on smart TVs tend to be ported phone interfaces: dense grids, tiny targets and focus that jumps somewhere unexpected when you press an arrow key. On a television, ten feet from the screen and holding only a D-pad, that falls apart.

The response

I built EZ Play TV for LG webOS around the remote rather than the pointer. Accounts connect to a Stalker portal, channels and movies are browsed through category, list and preview zones, and navigation is zone-based so each direction press has one predictable outcome.

The outcome

The app handles live channels, movies and series with favourites and search, sized for 1080p viewing distance, with the player taking over the full screen and surfacing channel identity on demand.
